PETTIT ICE CENTER IDENTITY
Within my Identity Design class we had the opportunity to work with the Pettit National Ice Center to create a 25th anniversary logo for their celebration. I was lucky enough to be chosen as the winner out of the 60-or-so students involved in this competition! It's both thrilling and humbling to see the logo as I drive down the highway.
They also were looking to design graphics to go around the interior wall of the skating rink. My inspiration was from the 2012 London summer olympics and how shapes conveyed movement and dynamism exploding from the athletes. I thought this concept would work well with the idea of scratching ice and the sharpness of the blades themselves. Each panel represents an activity at the Pettit; figure skating (solo and couples), speed skating (long and short track), hockey, curling, skating lessons, and running. Mine was not chosen for the interior, but it was a fun and unique challenge.
